Fishing

Lake Cumberland is a fisherman’s dream. The 1,255 miles of shoreline provide great fishing year-round. Many different varieties of fish can be taken.
Fisherman’s Dream Photo The lake is a fishery for both warm and cold water fish. Important predatory game fish are the largemouth bass, spotted bass, hybrid striped bass, walleye, sauger, and crappie. Prey species include shad, minnows, silversides, sunfish, and darters. In addition, channel, blue, and flathead catfish, chain pickerel, rainbow trout, and brown trout can be found below Wolf Creek Dam.

The Army Corps of Engineers manage the Cumberland River Fisheries, providing quality, while placing a strong emphasis on improving the aquatic resources and protecting the environment. Cooperation between Wolf Creek Project personnel and other natural resource agencies helps ensure we will all be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of the lake, and pass it on to future generations.

Boating

We have a private dock and lake access provided to guests at Cumberland Cove. Boat docking space is available on a first-come, first-served basis, at no extra charge. In the background, you can see the boat launch ramp at Gen. Burnside Island State Park.

Free boat launching facilities are located on General Burnside Island and at nearby Burnside Marina. Many kinds of boats are available for rent at most of the Lake’s marinas.

Both indoor and outdoor boat storage are available at Cumberland Cove.
